Brandon started in photography back in high school when his photography teacher encouraged him to enter a statewide competition. His photojournalistic style won him a scholarship to Kendal College. He decided Lansing Community College would be a better start. Brandon studied under many of the best instructors in Lansing area.
It didn't take long before Brandon realized that starting a family and being a photographer would be tougher than he imagined.
He went on in collage to become a Paramedic, a job that immediately satisfied his desire to serve others in need.
His dream job of becoming a Full Time Fireman came just five years after becoming a paramedic. He enjoyed the job, but knew God had something Greater.
Even though working on an Ambulance was fun, Brandon still had a passion for photography. This rekindled passion, and God's will brought him together with Roger VanVleck. Roger was looking for someone he could train to replace him at the helm of the business he started in the 1970's. Brandon filled that role perfectly. He started as an assistant to Roger at just one wedding before Roger allowed him to photograph on his own. The rest is history...
Over 75 Weddings, 200 Seniors, 70 Family's, Dozens of Children, 1 Funeral, the Birth of Twins, and more...
Brandon is where he is today... photographing the heart. His passion for photography is what made him give up his dream of being a Fireman. The passion is what drives him in all his adventures.
Brandon has a heart for Small Business. He recently took the reigns as President of the West Michigan Wedding Association. His goal is to educate the small business owners so all can succeed.
His passion can be seen best in his personal work on the project
"Just Because I can't Remember"

Emily Mulnix
Second Wedding Photographer and Album Designer
Emily's passion is for Lily and Brandon. Emily gives up three days a week as a home school mom, to give all her creativity to wedding album design. As my second photographer at weddings she gets to see first hand how what your wedding was like. She gets to see first hand the relationship of the couple and then beautifully portrays that relationship within their album.
Jenn's passion is for serving. She serves Modern Photographics through organization and customer service. She is the organizer. Making sure everything is right, everything works, and everyone knows what is going on. Jenn has been with us for over a year.
When you call you most likely will talk with Jenn and if you are like most you will like or love Jenn from the start.
Interns
Modern Photographics has interns from time to time. Currently we have two very creative students. One from Kendal, and one from Grand Rapids Community College. It is important to pass knowledge to those who want to learn. We are excited to see how they both grow.
